Dr. Rick Lillie teaches Accounting Information Systems, Intermediate Accounting, and Auditing in both blended and online formats. He is an innovator in his use of technology  in the development of  distance education courses. His course materials make extensive use of multimedia, animated problem-solving explanations, tutorials, and web-based simulations.

<>Blackboard is used as a web portal, a gateway to both course materials and other web-based resources and online activities. The courses emphasize active participation and study group collaboration. Software and hosted services are blended with the features of Blackboard in order to create the learning experience. Some of the software and hosted services that he uses include Skype, Festoon, Groove Virtual Office, FlashMeeting, and WileyPlus.

Dr. Lillie uses virtual office hours to work with his students. Class members are asked to have a headset/microphone and webcam. These tools plus Skype and Festoon enable audio and video-conferencing

Dr. Lillie’s research focuses on the convergence of technologies (i.e., the blending of consumer electronics, information technology, and telecommunications such as broadband and VOIP). He believes that such convergence can be used to support and energize the traditional, blended, and virtual classrooms.
