Browser Cookie Requirements

Blackboard requires third party cookies to be enabled. By default third party cookies are enabled in all supported browsers. If you encounter any problems, please refer to the information below to enable cookies in your browser.

Internet Explorer 7 on Windows

  1. Click the "Tools" menu
  2. Click "Internet Options"
  3. Select the "Privacy" tab

Option 1: To enable third-party cookies for all sites

  1. Click "Advanced"
  2. Select "Override automatic cookie handling"
  3. Select the "Accept" button under "Third-party Cookies" and click "OK"

Option 2: To enable third-party cookies just for http://blackboard.csusb.edu

  1. Click "Sites"
  2. Add "http://blackboard.csusb.edu" and click "Allow"
  3. Click "OK"

Firefox 3 on Windows

  1. Click the "Tools" menu
  2. Click "Options..."
  3. Select the "Privacy" menu Make sure "Keep until" is set to "they expire"

Option 1: To enable third party cookies for ALL sites: Make sure "Accept third-party cookies" is checked

Option 2: To only enable third-party cookies for http://blackboard.csusb.edu: Click "Exceptions" then add "http://blackboard.csusb.edu" by typing the URL and clicking "Allow" and then click "Close".

Safari on Apple OS X:

  1. Click the "Safari" menu
  2. Click "Preferences..."
  3. Click the "Security" menu
  4. For "Accept cookies" select "Always"

Firefox 3 on Apple OS X:

  1. Click the "Firefox" menu
  2. Click Preferences...
  3. Click the Privacy menu
  4. Make sure "Keep until" is set to "they expire"

Option 1: To enable third-party cookies for ALL sites: Make sure "Accept third-party cookies" is checked

Option 2: To only enable third-party cookies for http://blackboard.csusb.edu: Click "Exceptions" then add "http://blackboard.csusb.edu" by typing the URL and clicking "Enable" and then click "Close".

Internet Explorer 6 on Windows

  1. Click the "Tools" menu
  2. Click "Internet Options"
  3. Select the "Privacy" tab
  4. Move the settings slider to "Low" or "Accept all cookies"
  5. Click "OK"
